Nearly 100 Bikes Given away at Ogilvie Raceway's Kids Night!

By: Tami Jo Kuehn

Ogilvie, MN (August 14) – 85 Drivers, 96 Bikes and a 2022 Dirt Bike is how Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway celebrated Kids Night on Saturday. There were many smiling faces during the night, including the faces of Parker Anderson, Travis Schulte, Robert Holtquist, Shane Sabraski, Jody Bellefeuille and Matthew Dittman who all went home victorious.

Parker Anderson and Charlie Sheik led the WISSOTA Street Stocks to the green, and Anderson snagged the immediate lead. Shiek and Justin Pogones battled for second as the first caution flew. Anderson remained the top driver as the race resumed while Kyle Howland shot into the second point. Howland tucked in behind Anderson for the lead and tried both the low and high grooves to make a pass, but Anderson put space between them as the laps went by. Parker Anderson continued on to take the checkers with Kyle Howland, Jeff Ekdahl, Justin Pogones and Charlie Shiek as the top finishers.

Travis Schulte built a commanding lead the moment the green flew for the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. A few seconds separated Schulte from the battle for second which was three wide between Matt Baker, Corey Mehrwerth and Ashley Mehrwerth. Ashely Mehrwerth had a slight lead over the guys, and soon she pulled away. Schulte had a substantial lead established and was putting drivers down a lap as the yellow waved. With few laps to go, Travis Schulte kept the lead to snag the win. Ashley Mehrwerth, Matt Baker, Cole Boston and Zach Benson rounded out the top five.

Landyn Randt sped away with the lead in the WISSOTA Mod Four feature but Robert Holtquist raced the high side and slid to Randt’s door. Holtquist sped into the lead with Randt left to battle Tommy Pogones and Dustin Holtquist. Dustin Holtquist snagged the second point and began to chase down Robert. Dustin however ran out of laps and settled for second with Tommy Pogones, Tyler Larson and Landyn Randt grabbing top points while Robert Holtquist rolled into victory lane.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks kicked off their feature with a four-wide battle for the second point. Aaron Wilson nosed ahead with the lead, but Dexton Koch worked the low groove and took the point. Shane Sabraski and Jim Gullikson passed Wilson and raced door to door for second as Sabraski broke away. Sabraski closed the gap with Koch, and they began to race with slower traffic. Koch held Sabraski off as the yellow waved, and as the race resumed, Sabraski and Koch also resumed their fight for first. With five laps to go, Sabraski pulled ahead to secure the lead. Shane Sabraski led the remaining laps and took the win with Dexton Koch, Jim Gullikson, Andy Grymala and Jase Lien as top finishers.

Jody Bellefeuille took the immediate lead in the WISSOTA Modifieds feature, and he never looked back. Clayton Wagamon, Zach Drews and Brett Hoium raced three-wide for second but Drews fell back. Wagamon and Hoium remained side by side for the point and slid back and forth. Hoium proved successful and grabbed second while Bellefeuille added to his lead. Bellefeuille caught slower drivers while Wagamon, Hoium and Jeremy Nelson raced close for second. The battle for second was side by side, sliding and swapping for points. Clayton Wagamon took the second point with Brett Hoium, Jeremy Nelson and Shane Sabraski settling into points three through five as Jody Bellefeuille claimed the win.

As the WISSOTA Hornets took the green, they shot out of turn four with drivers going nearly five-wide. Joseph Wilber, Jesse Turnvall, Matthew Dittman and Mac Johnston went four-wide into turn one for the lead, and when they exited turn four, Wilber and Dittman were still side by side. The leaders pulled away from their competitors but remained door to door. Dittman broke free of Wilber and sped away. With the race half over, Dittman was ready to lap slower drivers. Dittman used every groove of the race surface, low, middle, and high lines, which allowed him to successfully weave his way through traffic and take the checkers. Remaining top points went to, Nate Servaty, Joe Wilber, Jesse Turnvall and Alex Aderman.

Besides the excitement of Bike Night at the Big O, Saturday was also the WISSOTA 100 Race of Champions qualifier, and we are proud to have the night’s winners represent us at the 100. Next week’s Saturday Night Shoot Out will resume at 6:30pm.
